National Community BandPicture Forthcoming The 2006 National Community Band met on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas this past July. It was the first time the NBA Community Band met on its own as a separate event from the NBA Convention. Rehearsals began at 7:00 pm on Friday, July 21st with the concert at 3:00pm on Sunday, July 23rd.æ All rehearsals and the performance were held on the campus of UNLV. A huge success, the concert featured a Sousa concert theme. The band played to a packed house and featured soloists from across the country and . The program was titled "Sousa on the Strip," and the conductor Robert E. (Bob) Foster took on the role of John Philip Sousa. Outgoing NBA Community Band Chair, Gerald Guilbeaux, organized and co-ordinated the event. The NBA would like to thank UNLV, Yamaha and Conn Selmer for their support of this bienniam's event.
