2008 International Conducting Symposium-Rome Participants Selected
Two outstanding high school band conductors were chosen as participants for the
NBA International Conducting Symposium which was held June 20 27, in Rome, Italy.
The two conductors spent a week observing and participating in rehearsals of
the Banda dell’Esercito (the Italian Army Band) and the Associazione Bandistica
di Sacrofano (the Sacrofano Wind Orchestra), and had the opportunity to study
with Maestro Fulvio Creux and Maestro Carlo Calcagnini.
This year’s participants were Reed Chamberlain, Director of Bands at Ashland
High School (Ohio), and Anthony Marinello, Associate Director of Bands at Lakota
West High School (Ohio). More information on the 2008 ICS event will be in the
December 2008 NBA Journal.
