Young Conductor Mentor Project
NBA implemented the Young Conductor Mentor Project in 2004
under the direction of NBA Past President Paula Crider. The Project seeks to
identify, inspire
and build on the skills and knowledge of the young conductors thereby enhancing
the whole of our profession. Three young conductors between the ages of
18 and 29 are selected to study and interact (at no charge) with a three-member
mentor team of notable music educators.
This biennial project works hand in hand with the Young Composer
Mentor Project to pair the young conductor with the young composer in a truly
inspiring interactive process. The young composers have been very fortunate
to have had their works played by professional military ensembles and the
outstanding Prairie Wind Ensemble.
The National Band Association gratefully acknowledges CBDNA for their assistance
and support with this project. The next project will occcur in the summer
of 2012. Application information is available in the link below.
